In Loving Remembrance of John & Mildred Caylor
Thursday, February 28, 2008
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A jury is hearing testimony in the trial of a 30-year-old man accused of killing a Kansas City-area couple at the business they had operated for 40 years.
Kellen McKinney is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and other charges in the Oct. 20, 2004, stabbing deaths of John and Mildred Caylor. A friend saw the couple's bloody bodies through the window of the Caylors' Bible and Music Store in Raytown and called police.
Jackson County Prosecutor Tammy Dickinson told jurors in her opening statement Wednesday that DNA tests linked McKinney to the slayings.
Defense attorney Horton Lance did not make an opening statement Wednesday, instead reserving it until after the prosecution rests its case.
